Self Doubt and the Power of the Mind

I am not good enough!

How many of you have said these words about yourself? Full disclosure, I am part of the self-doubt tribe. Over my lifetime, I have said these words more often than I care to count. So how much did I miss out on my denying my own self worth?

Well, truth be told, I am living the life I was meant to be. There also were aspects of my life where I was bold and took chances. Yet, I still wonder if I had made the decision to trust myself whether other elements of my life would have turned out differently.

Now, you must be wondering, how could she ever doubt herself, she is so confident.  What do you say to yourself when you have the opportunity to try something new? You might think my answer is “Let’s do this!” Surprise, for a long time I told myself “You can’t do that.”

Unbeknownst to my conscious mind, I continued to perpetuate and impose on myself something that someone else told me. Even getting myself to the gym, which is something I absolutely love and need, became a battle of my mind.

Yes, you read that correctly, a battle of my mind.

My physical body is getting stronger and is perfectly capable of getting up early to work out. The problem is that someone once told me that it was more important for me to get my sleep instead of my workout. So what ended up happening was that I used sleep and being tired as an excuse for not getting up early to go work out.

Do any of you fight a similar battle with your mind?

The good news is that with training, you can change the messages you send yourself. One way to start is to look in the mirror and tell yourself one thing you like about yourself. You can certainly pick another positive message, the principle is still the same.

The more often you say positive things to yourself, the better your mood and the more you will find you can accomplish.
